Mary, who was given very little time to form her own defense, was found guilty of insanity. He seems to try to soften the story a little by telling Nebuchadnezzar to not get too worried about the story itself because the ending is the most important part of the story. Some internal force took over my body and it reacted quicker than I could reason.

When the Princeton was ready to be shown off for the President, the President decided this would be the perfect way to impress Julia and her father.
