“Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.” I Kings 4:20 KJV
We see our limits and we forget about the invalid mother, who died really young, who still produced a young child who carried her in his heart through the Presidency and even to his death. We forget that our Savior came from a very tainted family tree. The most amazing part about times like these is the people who God places in your path to help you through them. Usually they are people you would have probably just walked right by if you were on the straight path.

“Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.” Isaiah 59:6 KJV
As she came down the staircase, everyone one was in stunned silence by the beautiful girl in the white gown. Where does that leave God? So, I guess when you look at it that way, my “super” friend really did deserve that nickname.
“A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” Proverbs 17:17 KJV
When his best friend arrived, the former President was shocked by the wasted figure that stood before him. When one hears Scriven’s poem, one has to be reminded of the source of its words. It’s about a man who was a friend. I had lots of friends when I was younger.
“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock….” Matthew 7:24 KJV
The knock came to his door. As the sentences rolled by, one can only imagine the smile slowly leaving the President’s face. Then came the challenge. The second in command rose up from his seat and demanded a retraction. I like being home because I still liked my wife.
“For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.” Isaiah 57:15 KJV
short time before his big fortieth birthday party, his wife and he were having a discussion. Actually, it wasn’t really a discussion, but it was a question she raised. Our Bible character was taking a walk down one of those dusty roads. He turned to his left and he noticed something strange. I guess when you start looking up instead of looking down, you know that you have hit the bottom and there is now only one way to go.
I was looking out the back window of the car as we climbed to the top of the second hill. I could see the road all the way back to town. I was amazed with all the cars lined up as far back as I could see and they all had their lights on.
Appreciation is a funny thing, you don’t see it while it is happening, but when you see its results you know who is responsible. And you guessed it, he is almost always smiling.
