It was quite the ordeal to get Ulysses Grant buried. Why? You might ask. Well, questions sometimes have tricky answers. Wouldn’t you agree?

The Best and Worst Presidential Retirements
My retirement has arrived, and I wanted to check out how some of the presidents and Bible characters handled theirs.
When you have a father and grandfather as special as these how can alone time with them not be special. If you think about it, we all have those moments.
Too often we find fault in those around. It’s like we want them to motivate us in the manner we want to be motivated. Maybe we should be like this President, and this Bible character, and be the inspiration others needs. We might be surprised by the results.
When this President passed away, the entire nation went into mourning. No Biblical character has ever left a more lasting impression on us after his death. This blog is written in the memory of my Dad: Marion Dean Cruse (passed away February 11, 2021).
Even when you aren’t athletic, victory, any victory, is still sweet. This President was hoping the golf course would give him a tiny victory. We all need to be on a victorious team.
I’m sure America turned out a lot differently than this President had hoped. Celebration is part of life and part of the Bible. The 4th of July is one of my favorite celebrations.
When this President’s brother, Arthur died, when he was in eighth-grade, it was a turning point in his life. Jesus taught him that is was not just His forgiveness he needed to accept, but he needed to forgive himself and move past it. God taught us that the next step in forgiveness is to accept that forgiveness, even if that involves forgiving ourselves.
“Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.” Psalm 51:8 KJV
Sensing the already nervous mood of the nation, the President didn’t want to startle the nation any more by telling it that their leader was ill. One by one, people passed by him. No one wanted to help. I just have a hard time, sometimes, arranging the “stick” on the correct side of the “o” to form one of those letters.
“Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.” I Kings 4:20 KJV
We see our limits and we forget about the invalid mother, who died really young, who still produced a young child who carried her in his heart through the Presidency and even to his death. We forget that our Savior came from a very tainted family tree. The most amazing part about times like these is the people who God places in your path to help you through them. Usually they are people you would have probably just walked right by if you were on the straight path.
