TEN COMMANDMENTS RAP

God gave Moses a tablet of rules
To keep us humans from acting like fools!
You’ll find them right there in Exodus 20.
Only ten rules, but wow, they cover plenty!

First rule says that God is Number One!
He comes before everything and everyone.
Nothing is greater or higher than He.
God should be our top priority!

Rule number two: Worship nothing fake!
Only God is real so there’s nothing you can make
That is worthy of your worship; nothing can compare
To the one true God who is with us everywhere.

Next on the list-commandment number three,
Don’t use God’s name inappropriately.
His name should be honored, not taken in vain.
EASY! With a little self-control and a brain!

Rule number four: Take a day to rest.
And remember all the ways that we have been blessed.
A day to worship God and thank Him for salvation.
Just like He rested after finishing creation.

Number five’s a good one…respect your mom and dad.
Be kind and help them out-in the long-run you’ll be glad.
They’ve been around much longer, lived through life’s headaches.
Even when it’s hard, you can learn from their mistakes.

Next, “Thou shalt not kill”, this is obviously true.
It’s not your job to say when a person’s death is due.
A sidenote I will add…..just for your protection,
Yellow Jackets and copperheads are surely an exception.

Adultery is a no-no, to your marriage stay true.
If not, you’ll break commandment number seven right in two.
The promises you made should last throughout your life.
So be faithful to your husband, be faithful to your wife.

“Thou shalt not steal”, this shouldn’t cause distress.
If it’s not yours, don’t take it, it’s not yours to possess.
God will give you everything that you will ever need.
Trust in Him-He’s got this, just let Him take the lead.

“No false witness shall you bear”, in other words, no lies!
Honesty’s the way to go, do not be unwise.
Big lies, little lies, even when in trouble.
When truth is missing this could make your problem become double!

Finally got to number ten, the one that says, “don’t covet”.
We can’t want what others have we’ve got to get above it.
God’s given us so many things, we should feel very blessed,
And thankful for the things we have, forget about the rest!

There are the commandments that God wants us to know.
To help us become more like Christ as through our lives we go.
They teach us we must first love God, and then love others, too.
And guide us as we learn and grow
through everything we do.
